I have a project, and am trying to understand how to create a cutlist.
Example: I have several pieces that are varying widths and lenghts that can all fit on a single (or multiple) boards that are roughly 1" X 5.5" X 8'
It doesn't appear to group the varying widths together, even though they would fit on the same board.
I tried doing it as a sheet good instead of dimensional, but that didn't seem to work either.
Suggestions?

Dimensional lumber is meant to be cut to length only, not ripped. A cuttting diagramm for dimensional will never attempt to place parts side by side. See OCL documentation.
Thank you for your comment. I understand, however, as an example, I am working with two pieces, each 38" long and 1" thick. One is 3" wide and the other is 3.5" wide. My board is 1" X 5.5" X 96" and I would not expect them to fit side-by-side. But, shouldn't they fit end-to-end?
What am I doing wrong?
I figured it out. There was a slight, fractional difference in the thickness of the two pieces. Once I fixed that, they both got displayed on the same board, end-to-end.
I also suspect if I had an additional, much narrower piece, it would display side-by-side when using the sheets-good choice.
